Inspired by the plush, decadent feel of a crimson velvet rug, "Velvet" is a piece designed to envelop the listener in a rich, warm embrace. It weaves together the lush, earthy tones of three woodwind instruments: the alto flute, tenor recorder, and bass (basset) recorder. The composition intentionally explores the lower register of each instrument, allowing their unique timbres to blend and intertwine, creating a deep palette of colors that feel both grounded and luxurious.
