Matthew Schmidt
Co-Founder and Co-Owner
Matthew Schmidt is a versatile woodwind doubler with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Montclair State University. Specializing in oboe, flute, clarinet, and saxophone, Matthew brings a wealth of experience and technical skill to his performances and teaching. While at Montclair he performed with the MSU Orchestra, Wind Symphony Band, University Singers, and a variety of small chamber ensembles. Matthew can be found performing with various orchestral ensembles in the north Jersey area including the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra of which he is the principal oboist. In addition to his orchestral playing, Matthew frequently performs as a woodwind doubler for local community and school theater productions. When he is not performing as an instrumentalist, he is composing music for others to enjoy playing. His music can be described as cinematic and whimsical, drawing inspiration from nature and fantasy. Although he is grateful for his time spent as a music educator, Matthew is excited to shift his focus to music composition and embrace his role as co-owner and co-founder of D.S. Musiks.
