Owen Davitt
Co-Founder and Co-Owner
Owen G. Davitt is a modern and historical woodwind multi-instrumentalist, composer, and music educator based in New Jersey. He is actively involved in several ensembles, serving as a recorder and early wind player (chalumeau and capped reeds) with the La Fiocco period instrument ensemble, an oboist with the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra, and a low clarinetist with the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir and throughout the region.
As a composer, Owen enjoys working with a wide array of instruments and has a robust catalog of works for solo and woodwind chamber ensembles. His compositions have been performed by acclaimed ensembles such as Double Entendre, the National Youth Recorder Orchestra of Great Britain, La Fiocco, the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir, Palisades Virtuosi, Uptown Flutes, and the BETA Quartet.
In addition to his performance career, Owen is the Minister of Music and Organist at St. Matthew’s & St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Paramus, NJ, a board member of the Plattsburgh Clarinet Choir, and the oboe instructor at Wharton Performing Arts School. He is also the co-founder and co-owner of the music publishing company D.S. Musiks.

Matthew Schmidt
Co-Founder and Co-Owner
Matthew Schmidt is a versatile woodwind doubler with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Montclair State University. Specializing in oboe, flute, clarinet, and saxophone, Matthew brings a wealth of experience and technical skill to his performances and teaching. While at Montclair he performed with the MSU Orchestra, Wind Symphony Band, University Singers, and a variety of small chamber ensembles. Matthew can be found performing with various orchestral ensembles in the north Jersey area including the East Brunswick Symphony Orchestra of which he is the principal oboist. In addition to his orchestral playing, Matthew frequently performs as a woodwind doubler for local community and school theater productions. When he is not performing as an instrumentalist, he is composing music for others to enjoy playing. His music can be described as cinematic and whimsical, drawing inspiration from nature and fantasy. Although he is grateful for his time spent as a music educator, Matthew is excited to shift his focus to music composition and embrace his role as co-owner and co-founder of D.S. Musiks.
